Welcome to Pierre-Marie Tronc web site
The Sound Architect | The ToCAM NaTCHรฉ
Pierre-Marie Tronc starts playing drums pretty late, about 17 years old.
But before he had learned classic percussions at the Nimes music conservatory with master Alex Clapot who is watching and protectiong us from above. And then Pierre-Marie had learned in Aix-en-provence music conservatory with other teachers. Then he goes to Paris to study in the higher schools of drums with Misters Dante Agostini, Emmanuel Boursault and Guy Lefevre and wins a drums first price (Sight-reading, interpretation and improvisation).
Pierre-Marie warmly welcomes his friend Renรฉ Guรฉrin, an excellent drummer, member of the group Martin Circus, former Editor-in-Chief of "Batteur Magazine", and many other things...
Pierre-Marie Tronc plays drums in a small cellar of a bulding in Ampรจres street in Paris. And it's there in Paris that Pierre-Marie mets his Mentor, Mister Daniel Humair, master in drums art and in ambidexterity secret. They will work together at "Buttes Chaumont" in the masterโs apartment.
Pierre-Marie Tronc says that Master Daniel Humair paint when he is playing drums. He transforms his drums into a well-being forest with thousand of different sounds and several birds. He is absolutely amazing. PMT used to listen to Master Andrรฉ Ceccarelli, an other sacred monster of drums. Pierre-Marie Tronc says that master Andrรฉ Cecarrelli has one of the most beautiful touch in the world, similar to that of Master Peter Herskine. Pierre-Marie Tronc will often listen to Christian Vander in Paris or in province with his mythic Magma group. Pierre-Marie Tronc says the physical activity and rhythmic research of Master Christian Vander are so incredible that he has an impressive game of aerial and avant-garde technique and will never be copied. Pierre-Marie Tronc listen to many drums masters such as Me Manu Katchรฉ, Me Moktar Samba, Me Christophe Deschamps, Me Paco Sery, Me Fรฉlix Sabal-Lecco, and many others. He does a lots of internships with Me Jacques Thollot who is watching and protectiong us from above... And, through Me Pierre Aldegon, Pierre-Marie Tronc plays in big cabarets such as "Lido" in Paris as a substitute drummer and as an advance intern. This helps him improve his drumming and to evolve within major musical groups specialized in the work of american and french Super-Revues. He will play in different Big Band too. And he will work in several recording studios. After four years in Paris, Pierre-Marie Tronc came back in the "Midi" for working drums more and more, and to prepare a solo French drums tour at the same time. He plays in Chartres, Laval, Amiens, Bordeaux, Grasse, Paris, and others french and european citiesโฆ
But he is stil not satisfied by his level. PMT will say :"I lost myself in technique, i give too much technique at the expense of musicality. And it can not work that way."
So, for one year, PMT decides to work drums close to nature, in forests and in Camargue, in the middle of bulls, horses, ponds, pink flamingos, and all kinds of endemic animals and plants. And here, as close as possible to the Camargue fauna and floran, and through the birds songs, their cries, their fears and the sounds they made, he will work on the rhythms and solos.
At home, he listens to others drums masters such as Tony Williams, Jack Dejohnette, Elvin Jones, Peter Erskine, Trilok Gurtu, Kenny Clarke, Joe Jones, Buddy Rich, Art Blakey and many others... Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd et Dave Weckl, Cindy Blackman, Karen Carpenter, Evelyn Glennie et Sheila E. He listens to arab and african music too. He also listens to flamenco and Gypsy music and singing.
However, something is still wrong. So, PMT put down the chopsticks, store the drums and changes direction for thirty years! He creates two big variety orchestras : "Orchestre du Soleil" and "Compagnie Franรงaise du Soleil" wich will both produce magnificent and exceptional shows.
Now, PMT is in charge of staging and setting up of his shows. And he takes care of logistics with S-Group. In short, he is in charge of everything and works 19 hours a day.
But, unfortunately PMT has to stop and stop the scene because of health reasons. But he does not want to leave the world of shows. He still wants to work. For several months Pierre-Marie will be welcomed by friends near Alรจs (Gard). He gives infinate thanks to these friends. Friends who allow him to flourish in the event industry and to stay in touch with the stage.
Pierre-Marie Tronc says : " S-Group is a great event structure for setting up shows in France, in Europe and all over the world. Thank you to them from the bottom of my heart. These people are awesome and very professional. A big thank you to Lรฉon, Alexandre, Raphaรซl, Philippe, Sรฉbastien, the girls and the others."
Time goes on, and finally Pierre-Marie decides to take back the chopsticks and to take care of his mom which is 96 years old.
The artist says : " Take back the chopsticks after thirty years is a huge and terrible challenge because of health reasons but I manage to overcome this inconvenience thanks to family and friends. More over the passion for music and drums have always pushed me to work hard.
As long as Men will not completly destroys Earth and all animals, in short, everything that is the foundation and basis of Life on Earth,
I will stil play drums! And i will always have the chopsticks in hands until...
Perhaps I will never reached the level of drums masters like those I have just mentionned before. But, despite some of lifeโs inconveniences, I have always tried, and I will always try to progress on the magical instrument that the drums is.
"By this time i'm preparing a solo album. I am greatly inspired by the sounds, noises, movements, and scents of nature wich are fully part of my drums play."
The artist says too : " I really like this quote : "
"The music was slightly entrusted to the musicians but it belongs to the light wind..."
Alex Clapot
"To God, to Men, to Nature and to animals, i say : Help us! And, thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you for all."
"You are Artists, be the even more, and there will never be war again!"
"Love settles everything"
Friendly,
Pierre-Marie Tronc.
